Full body MOT with scans: blood tests, imaging and a doctor in one visit

A full body MOT with scans gives you two kinds of information: what your blood chemistry is doing, and what your organs, bones and blood vessels look like. Each tier at 117a Harley Street adds a different level of imaging, from a chest X-ray on Advanced to a 3T MRI on Ultimate, and a doctor reads all of it together with you.

Many local clinics take the bloods, then refer you elsewhere for the scan. We do the examination, the blood tests and the imaging in one visit, at one price. You can see every tier on our Health MOT page, or call 020 7183 7056.

TierImaging includedPrice and time to allow

EliteGender-specific ultrasound. Men: testicular and abdominal scans with PSA. Women: consultant gynaecology review with ultrasound, mammogram and smear£1,850 for men, £2,095 for women, 2.5 to 3 hours

Imaging, price and time to allow for each Health MOT tier. Each tier includes everything in the one below it.

Choosing the tier that matches what you want scanned

  • Under 40, feeling well, and wanting a doctor-led baseline: Essential. The examination and ECG cover your heart and lungs, and the bloods cover the core chemistry.
  • Over 40, or wanting your lungs, bones and hormones looked at: Advanced, with the chest X-ray and DEXA when indicated.
  • A family history of prostate, testicular, breast or gynaecological problems: Elite, for ultrasound and specialist review.
  • Wanting the brain, the blood vessels in the neck and head, the spine and the torso imaged: Ultimate, with the 3T MRI.

If you are between two tiers, our guide to which tier matches your age and risk goes into more detail, or the team will talk it through on the phone.

Who reads the scans

Ultrasound and MRI are done by our imaging partners on Harley Street, a short walk from the clinic. The Ultimate MRI runs on a 3T scanner and is reported by a consultant radiologist trained in body imaging.

That report then comes back to the doctor who examined you. A small liver cyst, a narrowed disc or a thyroid nodule can mean very different things depending on your history and your blood results, so your doctor reads them together and explains what they mean for you.

"People often come in asking for the MRI. It shows me structure, and that's useful, but I read it next to your bloods and what I found when I examined you."

Most findings need nothing more than a note in your record. When something does need a specialist, we refer you directly to the right Harley Street consultant, with no referral fee. Our guide on how we choose your specialist explains how that works, and incidental findings on a private scan covers the things an MRI finds that nobody was looking for.

Booking it

You can do everything in one visit. If you'd rather split it, some patients have the medical on a Friday and the MRI on the Saturday. Our guide to visiting from outside London has ideas for planning the day.

Essential results are usually ready within two to three working days, and Elite and Ultimate often take five to ten, because the scans are reported by specialists first. You go through them with a doctor, in person or by video or telephone.

Frequently asked questions

Do the scans involve radiation?

MRI and ultrasound use none. The chest X-ray and DEXA scan on Advanced and Elite use a very small dose.

Is the Ultimate MRI the same as a full body MRI scan?

It covers the brain, intracranial and carotid MRA, whole spine and torso. Unlike a scan-only service, it comes with the full examination, blood tests and a doctor to go through the results with you. Our guide to MRI-only versus a doctor-led MOT compares the two.

Can I have the medical and the scan on different days?

Yes, if you prefer. Everything can be done in one visit, but you can also have the medical one day and the MRI the next.
