What is included in a Full Body MOT Health Check at your London clinic?

We offer a range of packages to suit all ages and health concerns. All MOT packages include unlimited Consultation and Examination time with an experienced Harley Street doctor as well as a review of all of the results.  We combine accurate medical Measurements and Observations, with a large range of Tests, covering all essential biological functions as well as many specialist, innovative Genetic and Cancer screening diagnostics.

How does a Private Health Check differ from a standard NHS check-up?

Accepted Answer

The NHS Health Check is offered to adults aged 40 to 74 and focuses on a 10-year cardiovascular risk score using blood pressure, cholesterol, BMI, and a lifestyle questionnaire. It does not include imaging, tumour markers, or organ function testing, and NHS England reports uptake of only around 40%. Our Full Body MOTs go significantly deeper — from 60+ blood markers and ECG at Essential level through to Full Body MRI and genetic testing at Ultimate. Cancer Research UK data shows that cancers detected at stage 1 have survival rates above 90%. Preventative screening is designed to find disease at this earliest, most treatable stage.

How do your prices compare to other private clinics?

We believe we offer the highest "Clinical Value" in London. In the private market, you will typically find two extremes: low-cost "mail-order" tests (approx. £200) that offer data without doctors, and high-end "VIP" hospital screens (approx. £8,000+) that rely on expensive, medically unnecessary investigations to justify their price.   We sit in the intelligent middle ground. By using relevant diagnostics and focusing on doctor-led consultations, we provide the rigorous depth of the VIP packages at a fraction of the cost (Our Ultimate package starts from £2,950).

I have health screening with my insurance company, what’s the difference between your screening and what I already have?

Most standard insurance assessments focus on lifestyle (diet, stress, and fitness), whereas we focus on clinical diagnostics (imaging, organ function, and pathology). While corporate screenings may be suitable for general wellness advice, they often lack the advanced diagnostic imaging and testing required to see what is actually happening inside your body.

Can I use my private health insurance to pay for a screening?

Accepted Answer

This really depends on your policy. Most UK private medical insurance policies cover acute conditions and disease treatment, but they do not cover elective, preventative health MOTs. Our screenings are such good value that certain insurers, such as Cigna and BUPA International, cover the entire cost of the assessment, but this does depend on your level of cover.   There are some policies that do offer cover so please check your specific policy wording for "Wellness" or "health MOT" allowances. We are happy to amend packages to suit the terms of your specific policy and are happy to provide you with a letter for pre-authorisation. Question 6

If I am pregnant, can I still attend a health assessment?

We do not recommend full health MOTs during pregnancy. Firstly, pregnancy significantly alters your physiology (hormones, blood volume, organ function), which would skew your results and make them difficult to benchmark. Secondly, as a precaution, we avoid elective MRI scanning during the first trimester.

What happens if you find something wrong?

Accepted Answer

You will never be left to deal with a result alone. If we detect an abnormality, your consulting doctor will explain exactly what it means and guide you on the next steps. Research published in The BMJ confirms that patient outcomes improve significantly when abnormal findings are paired with immediate specialist follow-up rather than GP-mediated referral pathways. Because of our Harley Street location, we have immediate access to a world-class network of private specialists (cardiologists, oncologists, endocrinologists) and can facilitate a seamless referral along with continuity of care at our clinic.

How much preparation is involved? Do I need to fast?

Preparation is minimal, but crucial for accuracy. We ask that you fast (no food, milk, or sugar) for 4–6 hours prior to your appointment to ensure your blood sugar and cholesterol results are accurate as well as to assist with the ultrasound scanning process if this is included in your package. You can and should drink plenty of plain water to stay hydrated for your blood draw. You will also be sent a Medical History Questionnaire to complete before arrival.

Do you perform all the scans at your Harley Street clinic?

Your consultation, blood draw, physical examination, and certain investigations all take place at our Harley Street clinic. We use specialist partners in imaging (MRI/Ultrasound) who are all based on Harley Street. This ensures that each element of the screening process is delivered by experts in the relevant methodology, experts we have been working with over our 40 year presence here on Harley Street.

Why can't I get my results on the same day?

Accepted Answer

While we can provide some instant data (like blood pressure and body composition), clinical accuracy takes time. Your blood samples need to be cultured and analysed in the lab, and your MRI scans must be reviewed in detail by a specialist Consultant Radiologist to ensure no subtle anomalies are missed. We refuse to rush this process. For Essential screenings, you will typically receive your full report and doctor's review within 2-3 working days, with the Elite and Ultimate 5–10 working days.

Question 13

How quickly will I receive the results of my Health Screening?

Accepted Answer

You’ll receive many blood test results on the same day, with imaging reports typically available within a few working days. The vast majority of patients have their results review appointment booked for the following week of their screening. Due to their specialist nature, some of the advanced testing may take up to two weeks for results to become available. Speak with our team for further information.

Conversely, some charge close to £10,000 (and sometimes more!) for a raft of completely unnecessary tests. We reject both extremes. Our screenings are exclusively Doctor-led, ensuring your physical examination and results are reviewed by your own personal doctor. By focusing only on medically significant markers, we provide the safest, smartest, and most comprehensive insight into your health at a fraction of the cost of our "VIP" competitors.

How often should I have a Full Body Health Check?

The American College of Physicians and the European Society of Cardiology both recommend annual cardiovascular risk assessment for adults over 40, and more frequently for those with existing risk factors. We recommend annual health checks because health is dynamic, not static. By screening yearly, we move beyond simple snapshots and start health benchmarking — tracking trends in your blood pressure, cholesterol, and organ function over time. This longitudinal data allows us to spot subtle declines and intervene years before a disease fully develops. In our clinical experience, approximately 15% of patients present with at least one finding that requires further investigation or lifestyle intervention.

For Women: Our female health check includes detailed thyroid profiling, iron tests, menopause hormones, and ovarian tumour markers (CA-125). For Men: Our male health check focuses on testosterone levels, prostate health (PSA & Stockholm 3), and uric acid (Gout risk).
